Our Team

Maria, a south side of Des Moines native, attended court reporting school at AIB College of Business. After completing her degree in 2010, she moved to Kansas City to begin her career as a freelance court reporter. Throughout her time in Kansas City, she specialized in high-profile cases, IP cases, medical/technical experts, employment law, and offering real-time services. 

In the summer of 2019, Maria and her family moved back to the Des Moines metro area to be near family and began working for a local firm. 

​Maria chose court reporting as her career because of the fast-paced environment and the opportunity to meet a variety of different people on a regular basis. When Maria is not in depositions or working from home, she is spending time with family, drinking coffee, or purchasing a new houseplant.

Maria’s longtime dream of becoming a firm owner became a reality, and out of that came For The Record Court Reporting based in Altoona, Iowa.  Maria holds certifications nationally as a Registered Professional Reporter, as well as certified in the states of Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, and Illinois.

Maria is joined by her husband, Mark Taylor, who has extensive background in client care, business management, marketing, and audio/visual technology, and Ann Gatto, who will assist in all scheduling and billing needs.  Ann comes with a long history of client care, office management, and billing expertise. Her attention to detail will ensure you are well taken care of.
